Who We
Are
We are a very
small group of foster homes, specializing in all-breed dog rescue and pit bull
education.
We do not have a shelter. Our volunteers are dedicated to providing a loving home environment for
each foster dog. We strongly believe in educating the public on responsible
pet care, dog safety, and restoring the image of the pit bull breeds through responsible
pit bull ownership and education. We accomplish this through distributing FREE
printed educational material, counseling via phone and email, and by providing online links to helpful pit bull information, pet
care, and behavior advice.
Our Pet Education / Pit Bull Education table debuted THREE years ago, and it's still going strong! Our Educational table has been featured at several pet adoption events throughout 2005, 2006 and now in 2007, including: Petapalooza (Taylor and Sterling Heights), the Novi Pet Expo, Taylor Petco, Eastpointe Petco, and many more!
Did you know? It costs us approximately
$100-$300 in printing costs per each event, to stock our extensive Pet Education / Pit
Bull Educational table? All printed materials are handed out FREE to the
public at adoption events throughout the year.
A Note from A Better Place:
Many homeless dogs depend on the A Better Place foster program each year. A Better Place receives no government funding and instead relies on the generosity of caring individuals for the support of our foster dogs and pet education programs:
$25 provides a foster dog with food and shelter for two weeks.
$50 pays for the printing of 60 pet education/dog safety packets.
$100 provides medical care and spay/neuter for one foster animal.
On behalf of the foster dogs, thank you. You make a difference!
Your donation will be used
to provide support for A Better Place and the many pets in our care.
Every amount donated helps!
Several rescue groups will be attending this exciting adoption event. Join us to check out adoptable dogs and visit with all of the wonderful people who assist in animal rescue. Don't forgot to grab some FREE Pit Bull Education, Responsible Dog Parenting Information, and Dog Safety materials at our booth!
Attention: We do not have a shelter, our dogs are fostered in private foster homes. If you would like to meet one of our foster dogs, we ask that you please fill out our online adoption
application first. Contact info for each dog is listed under the dog's photo
on their individual Petfinder pages. Thanks so much!

HELP! WE NEED FOSTER HOMES!
We are also in desperate need of foster homes for all breeds of dogs.
We get anywhere from 3-20 phone calls/e-mails per week, about homeless pits in need. But we simply don't have the room for them. Currently we only have on pit bull foster home :(
Even if you can't foster, you can still help! You can sponsor a foster dog (i.e., help with vet bills, or donate the following items: dog food, vet care, leashes, collars, toys, crates, blankets, training, etc.) If you are interested in fostering or sponsoring a homeless pit bull, please e-mail Diana at: mipitcrew@yahoo.com or call me at 313-702-5501. If you are interested in fostering or sponsoring other breeds of homeless dogs, please call Mary at 734-587-2423.
ATTENTION: Due to a lack of funding and foster homes, we are NOT accepting any more pets at this time. HOWEVER, if you have a pit bull in need of a home, and need advice on placing him/her properly, please e-mail Diana at: mipitcrew@yahoo.com. Please do not contact me about out-of-state pit bulls in need. There are plenty here in Michigan that need my help, we cannot keep up with all the calls and e-mails. For out-of-state pit bulls in need, please visit www.pbrc.net for a list of pit-friendly rescues in your state. Thanks so much!

WE ARE FULL! YOU CAN HELP - FOSTER A DOG!
Due to a lack of funding and foster homes, we are NOT accepting any more dogs at this time. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO FOSTER A DOG (any breed), PLEASE EMAIL Diana at: mipitcrew@yahoo.com.
We rescue all breeds of dogs, but we only have a handful of foster homes, and just ONE pit bull foster home at this time. Pit Bull fostering takes dedication and patience, it can take an average of 6 months to 1 yr. or longer to place ONE adult pit bull. We have lost many good pit bull foster homes, because the foster parents end up becoming so attached to their foster pit bulls that they end up adopting them. Which means the dog now has a wonderful forever home, but the family can no longer foster any more pit bulls for us. Because of a lack of pit bull foster homes, we concentrate on educating the public about pit bulls and responsible pit bull ownership.
We truly believe that we will never put a dent in the homeless pit bull situation without education, education, education! We have a wonderful educational table with free literature that we bring to adoption events several times throughout the year.
We also help other shelters and rescues pre-screen applications for their adoptable pit bulls by placing their pit bulls up on our website to help get them adopted. Most of the pit bulls on our site are located in different cities throughout all of Michigan.
If you have a pit bull in need of a home, and need advice on placing him/her properly (remember, we are not accepting anymore dogs into our program at this time), please e-mail Diana at: mipitcrew@yahoo.com. Please realize, that due to the overwhelming amount of calls and e-mails we receive about pit bulls, it may take us 3-5 days to get back with you.
Please do not contact us about out-of-state pit bulls in need. There are plenty here in Michigan that need our help, we cannot keep up with all the MI calls and e-mails. The situation is desperate everywhere for these poor dogs :(
For out-of-state pit bulls in need, please visit www.pbrc.net for a list of pit-friendly rescues in your state. Thanks so much!
